On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Gómez” located at Aeropuerto 1007, Aeropuerto Abelardo L. Rodríguez. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco priced at $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos) and an adobada taco priced at $1.5 dollars ($30 pesos).
Adobada Taco
This taco has adobada meat, onion, cilantro, guacamole, charred sauce, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. When he took his first bite, Chef Danny stated that the charred sauce had a good flavor.
The guacamole had been diluted a little bit, though it was still considered avocado flesh. The thing that Chef Danny did not like was the adobada. It had been griddled and was left crunchy. Our host compared it to an “adobada rind (chicharron)”, which made him say that he would have preferred to have eaten a pork rind taco instead. However, when somebody asks for an adobada taco, it should be juicy and served directly from the pit. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.2.

Carne Asada Taco
This taco has carne asada (grilled beef), charred sauce, onion, cilantro, guacamole, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. The tortilla’s size was a little bit bigger than the ones usually used for adobada tacos, and it had an intense maize flavor.
Though the meat had a good flavor and it was juicy, it had a lot of skin leftovers and a leathery texture. The pieces were cut very thickly, which meant that it needed to be soften up. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.9.
