The Secretary of Education in Baja California in coordination with the Secretary of Health, agreed that 24 rural and urban schools of Basic Education, previously selected, will return to face-to-face classes next August 30.

According to the Secretary of Education, Catalino Zavala, there will be four schools in each of the six municipalities considered, which will receive students in their facilities, totaling 24 schools for the start of the next school year.

During the first week, which corresponds to August 30 to September 3, one public preschool, one private elementary school, one private high school and one technical high school will open.

Each week the list of schools that will have in-person classes will be updated, taking into account if they are in good condition, if there is a health center nearby, and if they are not located in a neighborhood where there are active cases of COVID-19.

Only 10 people may be present in the classrooms (nine students and a teacher), social distancing must be maintained, and the entrances and recesses will be staggered.

In order to comply with this, a hybrid work day will be implemented, which means that on Mondays and Wednesdays only students whose last name begins with "A" to "M" will attend classes, while on Tuesdays and Thursdays only students whose last name begins with "N" to "Z" will attend classes.

On the other hand, students whose parents have opted for their classes to continue to be online will be attended on Fridays, according to the presentation.

Catalino emphasized that each school, according to its context and needs, will be able to adapt the security and health protocols.
