Parque Esperanto in Tijuana: The Largest Park in Northern Mexico

Covering 364 hectares, it is also the third-largest park in all of Mexico.

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda expressed her gratitude to the sponsors who supported the Parque Esperanto project in Tijuana, now the largest park in northern Mexico. This green space results from collaboration between the government and the community to recover public spaces to benefit Baja California families.

Parque Esperanto spans 364 hectares, making it the third-largest park in Mexico, just behind Chapultepec Forest in Mexico City and Tangamanga Park in San Luis Potosí.

Governor Marina del Pilar emphasized that since the start of her administration, creating and restoring green spaces in Baja, California, has been one of her top priorities. The goal is to provide all residents with places to enjoy quality time with their loved ones, stay active, and play sports.

“This is what we are building in Baja California—a Baja California where we have spaces to continue loving our families, to keep cherished memories in our hearts, and to create unforgettable moments. Parque Esperanto is exactly what we want this to be,” she said.

Parque Esperanto is part of the RESPIRA program and was modernized in two phases with a total restoration budget of 275 million pesos. It now features improved facilities and more green areas.

“This park is for everyone, whether you have little or a lot. It belongs to all of us. Here, there are no divisions or inequalities. You’ll find gratitude, love, unity, and a sustainable, environmentally friendly project here. Let’s continue to sow life, love, and peace for all,” she added.

Carlos Torres Torres, Coordinator of the Public Space Regeneration Program, shared that Parque Esperanto is the third-largest park in Mexico, after Chapultepec and the one in San Luis Potosí. He also noted that over 354,000 people have visited the park in 2024.

"The name Esperanto was chosen because it is a language created to bring together the best of all countries. That’s the goal here. We want the thousands of families in Tijuana, who have come from all over the world, to enjoy this place,” Carlos Torres said.

Governor Marina del Pilar thanked the companies that made this project possible for all Tijuana residents: Grupo Inmobiliario JYSA, Corporación del Fuerte, Oxxo, Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente, UBER, Grupo AFAL, and Carl’s Jr.

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony took place during the event, and gifts were given to children from nearby communities.

Finally, Governor Marina del Pilar, on behalf of her family and the state government, sent her best wishes to all Baja Californians, hoping that these holidays are filled with peace, joy, and unforgettable moments.
