Baja California registers 1,681 Covid-19 active cases

Active cases are still declining in the state

Covid-19 active cases in Baja California are still decreasing, amounting to a total of 1,681 in the state. There were 446 new infections of which 113 were registered in Mexicali, 221 in Tijuana, 41 in Ensenada, 19 in Tecate, 7 in Rosarito, 44 in San Quintín, and 1 in San Felipe.

In the last 24 hours, the death toll from Covid-19 in the state was 35 patients: 14 from Mexicali and 21 from Tijuana.

Active cases were distributed in the following way: 486 in Mexicali, 597 in Tijuana, 327 in Ensenada, 95 in Tecate, 41 in Rosarito, 124 in San Quintín, and 11 in San Felipe.

Regarding hospital occupancy due to Covid-19, it is reported that Secretariat of Health hospitals are at 45.78% capacity and IMSS hospitals at 40.48%; regarding general occupancy, it is 53.40% for the former, and 57.99% for the latter.

Of the 1,681 active cases, most of them (1,480) are light to moderate and are attended to in an outpatient manner. 140 have been hospitalized without intubation, along with 61 patients who require mechanical ventilation assistance. It should be noted that 90% of intubated patients were not vaccinated against Covid-19.

Baja California has accumulated a total of 125,579 confirmed cases across the pandemic with 11,684 deaths, and 111,846 recovered patients, informed the Scientific Committee.

People over 30 are encouraged to get their booster shot, as well as continuing to follow preventive measures: face mask usage, space ventilation, social distancing of 1,5 meters, and constant handwashing to help maintain the epidemic curve’s decline.
