Despite the fact that COVID-19 infections still continue in Baja California, the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, said that the State seems to be in a plateau, because although Mexicali continues adding new cases, it shows negative tendencies, while Tijuana and Ensenada are going down, thus balancing the curve.
As of yesterday, there are 369 active cases statewide, of which 247 are located in Mexicali, 88 in Tijuana, 17 in Ensenada, five in San Felipe, five in Tecate, four in Rosarito and three in San Quintín.
According to the head of this agency, Tijuana is stable, and the capital of the State, if it remains without adding so many new cases, it could " match the rest of the State to the yellow coloration". Regarding Ensenada he commented:
Ensenada is the best big city we have in the State as they are doing it. They have less than 20 active cases there, if they continue in this way, it will surely be the first municipality to reach the new normality. In fact, Ensenada is where the incidence of active cases per 100 thousand inhabitants is 3.63, while in Tijuana it is 4.83, but surpassing both Mexicali by reporting an incidence of 23.36.
We recall that since the beginning of the pandemic, Tijuana, Mexicali and Ensenada have been the top three most affected municipalities. Currently, of the 48 thousand 951 positive cases that have occurred in the region, 19 thousand and 1 were registered in the Mexicali región, 17 thousand 652 in Tijuana, and 6 thousand 922 in the port of Ensenada.
The same has been observed in deaths, which so far total 8 thousand 166, with 3 thousand 656 of them in Tijuana, 3 thousand and 29 in Mexicali and one thousand 122 in Ensenada.
