Mexicali continues to be the municipality with the highest number of COVID-19 infections in recent weeks, preventing Baja California from moving to a green light, according to the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico.
According to the recent report by the head of this agency, the state capital climbed to number eight in the national top of municipalities with more active cases. And up until yesterday it concentrates 285 of the 378 active cases in the region.
At the same time, it remains as the municipality with the highest incidence of cases, 26.88, while the next one is Tijuana with 4.06, and Rosarito reports 0 incidence. In the last 24 hours, 49 new cases and six deaths were registered in Baja California. Of the former, 33 belong to Mexicali, and of the latter, five.
With these figures, the Mexicali territory has 18 thousand 770 positive cases so far in the pandemic, out of the 48 thousand 594 accumulated in the State. Regarding deaths, 3 thousand and 12 of the 8 thousand 131 deaths have occurred in this municipality.
Due to the above, and because Mexicali is where the virus is being transmitted the fastest according to the Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) indicator, health authorities are constantly asking to avoid crowding and to follow prevention measures. Pérez Rico warned, as in previous occasions, that this municipality is in danger of going under the red traffic light.
