The 25th City Hall, led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana, recently announced the implementation of the holiday "Tijuana Sin Pirotencia" (Tijuana Without Fireworks) operation, which aims to promote responsible Christmas and New Year's celebrations.
"Fireworks sales and usage tend to increase significantly during the holiday season, as they have for many years. That's why we are reinforcing operations through collaboration with the Secretariat of Government and the Secretariat of Citizen Security," said the mayor. He emphasized that the sale and use of fireworks are strictly prohibited under local regulations.
Mayor Burgueño Ruiz reiterated that selling and using fireworks are illegal in Tijuana. He noted that as these practices become more common during the holiday season, the local government is committed to strengthening enforcement efforts to ensure public safety.
Arnulfo Guerrero León, Secretary of the Government, urged the public to report any sales or use of fireworks by calling 911 or using the "Botón Verde" app. He emphasized that the "Tijuana Sin Pirotecnia" operation aims to make the city safer, cleaner, and more peaceful for everyone.
The Secretary also stated that inspectors from the Secretariat of Government ensure that fireworks are not sold in stores or street markets.
If someone is using fireworks, residents should also report it immediately. "When such incidents occur, citizens can contact 911, and the Tijuana Police will be dispatched to the location to address the issue," Guerrero León explained.
The 25th City Hall of Tijuana reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of all Tijuana residents during the holiday season.
