On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "Tacos Chanty" located at Francisco Javier Mina 1611, Zona Urbana Río Tijuana. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a suadero taco priced at $2 dollars ($35 pesos) and an adobada vampiro priced at $3.8 dollars ($60 pesos).
Suadero Taco
This taco has suadero, onion, cilantro, red salsa, and it is served on two store-bought corn tortillas. When he took his first bite, Chef Danny highlighted the tortillas because they were drenched in the suadero grease. Because of this, they were very humid, soft, and had a lot of flavor.
Though the suadero had a lot of flavor, it was a little bit dry, which is the opposite of how juicy it should be as it was cooked in its own grease. In addition, it was cut in small pieces which made it lose itself in the taco. The sauce had a good flavor despite it being spicy, and this is why this taco gets a rating of 6.3.
Price: $2 dollars ($35 pesos)
Adobada Vampiro
This dish has adobada meat, guacamole, onion, cilantro, cheese, and it is served on two corn tostadas. Each tostada had a cheese crust. Before he tried it, Chef Danny decided to put both of them at the bottom to create a "double tostada."
When he tried it, Chef Danny was completely delighted. He claimed that since he saw the color of the meat he knew that it would be good as it had been taken from the spit. This guarantees both its flavor and its juiciness, and makes it so that only one side of the meat is fried. The tostadas and the cheese added a lot of flavor. Chef Danny claimed that both ingredients said "Out of the way, here I come" in this dish. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.9.
Price: $3.8 dollars ($60 pesos)
