Sirloin taco on a spit by “Tacos El Tijuano” surprises due to its flavor

This unusual meat cooking style and its great seasoning were the highlights

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El TIjuano” located at Valles, Río Tijuana 3a Etapa. On this occasion he tried two tacos: an adobada taco priced at $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos) and a sirloin taco priced at $1.9 dollars ($38 pesos).

Sirloin Taco

This taco has onion, cilantro, avocado dressing, and something quite curious is that the meat is served directly from the spit as with adobada tacos. The difference here is that this is carne asada (grilled beef) and a sirloin cut, and all of this is served on two grease-drenched tortillas.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny claimed that the meat was seasoned pretty well since it had a good flavor. The tortillas, though they were drenched in grease, were well hydrated inside. The only thing he didn’t really like was the avocado dressing. He said that if they used guacamole instead, this taco would improve much more. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.7.

Price: $1.9 dollars ($38 pesos)

Adobada Taco

The first thing to note about this taco is the great color of its adobada meat, not to mention that one could see that it was fried. This taco also has onion, coriander, guacamole, red sauce, and just like the previous taco, it is served on two corn tortillas.

When he tried it, Chef Danny highlighted the guacamole since it complements the taco very well. He felt that the tortillas were a little drier this time around due to the type of grease used since the tortillas were griddled, which reduced their humidity.

Regarding the meat, Danny was only able to appreciate the slices taken directly from the spit, however, there were pieces of fat at the bottom. Though it had a great color, its flavor wasn’t that intense, lacking that “push” so characteristic of adobo. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.5.

Price: $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos)
