This week, Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana takes us to another taqueria; this time, chef Danny Betancourt paid a visit to Tacos Chihuahua and Perrones de La Mesa on Blvd. Diaz Ordaz P-122. Two tacos were sampled at this location: the Taco Perrón, which costs $ 65 pesos, and the Taco Chihuahua, which costs $ 40 pesos.
Chihuahua taco
Price: $ 40 pesos (about $2)
This is the first taco delivered to our host; it's wrapped in a flour tortilla the size of Danny's palm, and it's filled with roast beef, guacamole, onion, cilantro, tomato, beans, cheese, and red sauce. The first thing he noticed was that the flesh was tender, juicy, and flavorful, in addition to being thickly chopped.
Another thing to mention was the flavor of the flour tortilla, which reminded him of a handmade tortilla. This, along with the mix of juicy, soft, and tasty meat, resulted in a taco that thrilled our host, who awarded it a 9.2 rating.
Perron Taco
Price: $ 65 pesos (about $3.25 USD)
This taco features roasted beef, guacamole, onion, cilantro, tomato, cheese, beans, and red sauce. While this taco has the same components as the previous one, our host warned that the size of the tortilla might be an issue if the proportions of the ingredients are off, leading the tastes to be lost.
When Danny tasted it, he was blown away by the flavors of the cheese and tortilla; nevertheless, the flavor of the meat was once again the star, since the smoky flavor is because it is roasted with hardwood rather than charcoal. Although our host liked this taco, the fact that each mouthful was filled with cheese and the tortilla did not appeal to him, therefore it received an 8.3 rating.
