Tickets on sale next week for Shakira concert

Performance will benefit community organizations

Tijuana.- Tickets will go on sale on June 13 for Shakira's "Sale el Sol" concert on July 30 at Caliente Stadium, expected to draw a capacity 18,000 people.

The prices range from around $52 to $215 for VIP seating. They will be sold at the Fundación por Ayudar, Pueblo Amigo, Camino Real, and the box office of Xoloitzcuintles soccer team at the stadium, although they can be pre-ordered starting next week.

The performance by the Colombian superstar, known for her philanthropy, will raise funds for the Fundación por Ayudar, its president, María Elvia Amaya, announced Thursday.

Amaya said that for months Shakira's team had negotiated aspects of her presentation, particularly security at the event and the possible falsification of tickets, problems that had occurred in the stadium venue.

She noted, however, that Shakira was very open to helping the foundation, which supports orphanages, community centers, churches, among other places that help the poor and sick.

Proceeds will be distributed to various community organizations, said Amaya, the wife of Jorge Hank Rhon, a former Tijuana mayor and the owner the Caliente stadium and casino.

"This show will bring many benefits for Tijuana's residents," Amaya said. "We're not only going to see an artist but also become benefactors and put ourselves on the world map as a city that can receive any international star such as Shakira."

Although tickets go on sale June 13, but people may call Caliente stadium to pre-order them starting next week at 011-52-664-633-7300 (if dialing from U.S.).
