Governor Marina del Pilar presents the third government report in Tijuana showcasing achievements in infrastructure and well-being

This Friday, the governor highlighted historic investments in infrastructure, safe transport, social programs, and jobs that are improving quality of life in the region.

Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar presented her third government report in an event full of supporters, politicians, officials, and citizens. Beginning her speech, she addressed attendees with gratitude: "I am not here to talk only about the results; I come here to thank you."

Governor Marina del Pilar underscored the ever-growing prominence that women have had in politics, highlighting the leadership of the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and giving a shout-out to all the female mayors and senators of Baja California.

Her speech continued as she recounted the achievements and projects that have transformed the state during her administration's first three years.

Investment in infrastructure to improve mobility

One of the highlights of this report is the significant amount of public investment -over 10.8 billion pesos- allocated to crucial infrastructure projects to improve mobility in Baja California. Some of the most important projects are:

  • Nodo El Gallo
  • Nodo El Sauzal
  • Nodo Morelos
  • Nodo Alamar
  • Eje Central Bridge
  • Lázaro Cárdenas District

These projects are designed to reduce citizens’ travel times. “More time with family, less time in traffic,” the governor explained when presenting her report.

These improvements include a new fleet of 97 buses already active in Baja Californian streets, plus 50 more that will be added soon, and "Violet" transport implemented to provide women with safe public transport options. The progress achieved is part of a comprehensive mobility plan to benefit the community.

Furthermore, the federal government has supported projects such as the Elevated Viaduct and the Otay II Port of Entry to speed up local traffic and streamline the flow of people and merchandise traveling between Mexico and the United States.

Water and the environment: a binational commitment

Governor Marina del Pilar emphasized the state’s progress in water treatment and infrastructure. She also highlighted the importance of the San Antonio Wastewater Plant, which is currently being rebuilt with help from SEDENA.

"An important step for beaches and to resolve a binational problem", the governor said of this project, aiming to improve water quality, the environment, and ease tensions between nations.

Social initiatives

Governor Marina del Pilar highlighted the implementation of social programs to support the state’s most vulnerable groups, such as "Pancita Llena, Corazón Contento". She also celebrated that Baja California is the second state to decrease poverty, a significant achievement through joint efforts between the government and the people.

Job creation

Economic development was also a key issue addressed by Governor Marina del Pilar’s report. During her speech, she proudly announced the creation of 1,200 jobs thanks to new investments by Toyota, while highlighting that Baja California has the highest wage increase in the country. All of this progress made is set to improve the quality of life of all Baja Californian residents.

Upcoming tourism events

Governor Marina del Pilar also excitedly announced that Baja California will be the venue of Tianguis Turístico Mexico and the Caribbean World Series in 2025. These events will provide an excellent opportunity to promote tourism and the region's economy and are possible thanks to the excellent management by the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Aguíñiga.

Strengthening of health services

Aiming to improve healthcare, the establishment of the new General Hospital in Tijuana's Eastern Zone was announced. It will treat more than 500,00 people with state-of-the-art technology and trained staff.

Governor Marina del Pilar promotes affordable housing in Baja California

Governor Marina del Pilar also spoke about building more affordable houses for the people of Tijuana: "We are addressing the housing issue, so that all families can buy their homes and have a family. When we took office, there were only 4,000 houses with a social perspective, and today, we are reaching 8,000 actions on housing matters, and we are aiming for 100,000. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will support us, and I am sure that we will be able to go beyond our goal," she said.

A new university in Tijuana

Lastly, the governor celebrated the President of Mexico’s approval of creating a new university in Tijuana. This institution represents vital progress for the state's higher education and a sure bet on the future of Baja Californian youth.

As the event concluded, the governor reiterated her commitment to keep working for Baja California and thanked her work team and the people for their support. With a progressive vision, Governor Marina del Pilar finalized her third government report by clarifying that her conviction is that "the best time for Baja California is the one we are building together."
