The City of Tijuana works with the State Department to strengthen ties

Ismael Burgueño, Mayor of Tijuana, strengthens relations with the US Consul General in Tijuana, Christopher Teal, to boost binational collaboration.

Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Mayor of the City of Tijuana, met with Christopher Teal, the US Consul General in Tijuana, to strengthen cooperation and address issues of common interest. Both leaders spoke during this meeting about topics relevant to both communities as they look to make progress on joint initiatives.

Burgueño Ruiz, accompanied by the Secretary of Economic Development of Tijuana, Pedro Alejandro Montejo Peterson, welcomed the Consul at the City Hall. Both parties showed willingness and dedication to working together in areas that concern both regions.

"We wish to work together in this binational relation framework, coordinate, and give results that benefit people on both sides. We proudly welcome you here, and we wish to tell you that Tijuana will have the three best years of its history," the mayor of Tijuana told the Consul and his team during his speech.

He also shared that he has spoken with US authorities to strengthen dialogue, collaborate, and progress in different areas as part of the united dynamics.

Burgueño Ruiz stated that the security issue is being dealt with as there has been a significant immediate reaction from police officers. He said the Tourism Police will be strengthened to foster peace for visitors.

"The President of Mexico is supporting Tijuana. Several projects are being promoted, which we confirmed during her most recent visit. We are all coordinated in the municipality, the state, and the federation. We will strengthen public policies and want to continue being your allies. We want to generate collective well-being," Burgueño Ruiz said.

The Consul expressed his willingness to collaborate with the City Hall of Tijuana on several issues with complete openness. He also lauded the project promoted by the Municipal Government, which aims to create green areas to foster a cleaner environment in the city.

Meanwhile, Montejo Peterson highlighted the recent creation of this municipal administration's proposal: the Business Advisory Council, which aims to involve the business sector in solving this region's issues.

Other issues were addressed at this meeting, always highlighting the willingness of both parties to bolster close cooperation.

The US Consulate Public Affairs Officer, Allison Hamilton; the Consul of Politics and Economy, Eduardo García; the Representative of Public and Economic Affairs, Máximo Cervantes; and the Representative of Public Affairs, José María Noriega, all participated in this meeting.
