Travesía Baja 100: Discover the best landscapes of Baja California with this unique hiking experience

The 38th edition of Travesía Baja 100 is the perfect opportunity for adventurers to challenge themselves and enjoy Baja California's breathtaking landscapes. This is, after all, a region known for its ecological diversity, beautiful landscapes, endemic species, and stunning environments that awe all visitors.

The Committee of Tourism and Conventions of Rosarito (COTUCO) invites everyone to explore the beauty of the Baja California peninsula from coast to coast with this 110 km (68 miles) trail. This hike will begin at Playa Altamira, go through Valle de Los Cirios and Misión San Francisco Borja de Adac, and end at Bahía de los Ángeles in the Gulf of California.

Travesía Baja 100 will take place from November 6 to November 10. Two hundred hikers from all over the world are expected to participate in this exciting adventure!

Origins of Travesía Baja 100

Travesía Baja 100 began in 1987 with a group of campers known as "Mi BC”. Since then, this yearly tradition has become Baja California’s most significant trekking experience.

The complete itinerary of this 5-day hike is as follows:

Day 1 (Wednesday, November 6)

Traveling from Tijuana and Mexicali to Playa Altamira.

Day 2 (Thursday, November 7)

The trail’s first 50 kilometers (31 miles) are a tremendous initial challenge for all participants who will traverse this tricky part of the journey in the company of others while enjoying the region's beautiful landscapes.

Hikers will begin the route at Playa Altamira and travel towards Misión San Francisco Borja de Adac, an edifice built by Jesuit missionary Wenceslaus Linck.

This historical site, which stands proudly above all, is home to a breathtaking landscape full of cactuses, giant 200-year-old boojum trees, and desert flora.

Day 3 (Friday, November 8)

Hiking becomes more accessible on the third day when you walk 30 km (19 miles) from Misión San Francisco Borja de Adac to Agua de Higueras.

This part of the trail is known for featuring gorgeous landscapes where hikers can admire enormous boojum trees and all kinds of desert plants.

Day 4 (Saturday, November 9)

On the fourth day, adventurers will hike the last 30 km (19 miles) towards Bahía de Los Ángeles. As the journey finalizes, hikers will be offered a place to stay.

Day 5 (Sunday, November 10)

The fifth and last day is the way back home. With unforgettable memories and a proud sense of accomplishment, all participants will return to Tijuana and Mexicali.

Hydration stations will be located every 10 km (6 miles) throughout the hike. Adventurers will be accompanied by trained staff at all times who are ready to give first aid, provide food, and deal with any situation that may arise.

Hikers will be able to rest at these stations. At the end of each day's activities, a transport vehicle will be used in case any participant is unable to continue trekking.
