Mayor Ismael Burgueño and Marina del Pilar promote projects to improve mobility in Tijuana

The Ismael Burgueño administration is basing these projects on infrastructure modernization and mobility progress

Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz is focusing on transforming Tijuana by improving mobility and modernizing urban infrastructure with the goal of improving people's quality of life.

That's why, through the Secretariat of Mobility, the 25th City Hall of Tijuana is working on important project drafts to provide more flow to the city's traffic while also coordinating efforts with the government of Baja California led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda with the goal of giving solutions to one of people's main concerns: mobility.

Burgueño Ruiz stated the following:

I want to thank and give my appreciation to all of the efforts made by the state government, the great projects carried out by our governor. We have started doing our part that we have to do as a municipality such as stops and traffic light synchronization. All of these actions mean that with one decision we are able to make a difference and coordinating with the state will allow us to have very good results.

For her part, the Secretary of Urban and Sustainable Mobility, María del Pilar Vásquez Hernández, explained that the municipal government is working on five drafts to guarantee efficient and safe mobility in the population.

"We are working on five project drafts that will have to be approved by the Metropolitan Institute of Planning (IMPLAN) so that they can be deemed viable so we can start them. Here, we'll address issues such as signage and traffic lights, and they will also help us to deal with mobility matters in our municipality," Vásquez Hernández stated.

The Municipal President underscored that citizens will see good results regarding mobility issues immediately as these support the infrastructure projects that the state government has carried out.

"For example, at the bridge at the start of Bulevar Terán Terán, in Alamar, there are traffic lights that are not synchronized. We have a great infrastructure project, but later ahead, a bottleneck occurs because the municipality has not dealt with it," the mayor of Tijuana said.

Burgueño Ruiz said that a reengineering will be taking place because when it comes to traffic light operation, the Secretariat of Territory, Urban, and Environmental Development (SDTUA) only deals with them when it comes to their maintenance.

"We want to give great results and that means that we have to innovate and propose regulation reforms that, in some cases, are obsolete. We have to be at the forefront of what the city currently needs," he added.

On the other hand, the 25th City Hall of Tijuana revealed the results obtained regarding municipal public utilities only two weeks after taking office.

The head of SDTUA, Virginia Vargas González, explained that at Avenida Revolución in Downtown Tijuana, 35 posts have been restored and the same number of arm extensions and 35 streetlights have been installed with a self-investment of 227,000 pesos.

The official added that a new garbage collection service route will be opened at Fraccionamiento El Laurel 1st Section, which will benefit 1,300 homes in the area.

Burgueño Ruiz pointed out that they are looking to expand garbage collection service coverage, starting with this area that had requested it for around 10 years to previous municipal administrations.
