The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and the mayor of Tijuana, Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, have made a commitment to work together to fight poverty in the city.

During the forum "Diseño al margen: Fin de la Pobreza en Baja California", which took place at Universidad Xochicalco Tijuana campus, both leaders spoke about a strategic plan whose goal is to improve the lifestyle of people living in poverty.

The governor emphasized that her main goal is to guarantee that "all families live well without lacking anything" while also highlighting the importance of working together to achieve this goal.

In her speech, the governor highlighted that working together is essential to satisfy the needs of communities in vulnerable conditions. "Coordination is very important, we need actions that involve all orders of government, not levels, because we are all equal," she underscored.

The state governor also celebrated the proximity between the community and the Ismael Burgueño administration, which continues to follow the legacy of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador who always fought to help people who need it the most.

"We will continue to help all communities, especially those who need it the most, because for everyone's sake, poor people come first," the governor said. This commitment strengthens her intention to bring essential services, such as water, electricity, and paving, to the areas that need it the most.

For his part, the municipal president of Tijuana, Isamel Burgueño spoke about the importance of dialogue while also reaffirming his commitment to collaborate with these efforts, claiming that by cooperating with the federation, the state, and the municipality, they will achieve positive results.

"Poverty is a challenge that must be faced with shared unity and efforts, as a city, we are committed to actively contribute so that these plans develop," the mayor said.

"Strategic Agenda to Fight Poverty in Baja California" is presented

At this forum, they also spoke about the "Strategic Agenda to Fight Poverty in Baja California" which considers censuses in the most vulnerable zones to listen to the specific needs of people and provide optimal and comprehensive assistance.

Therefore, the governor stated that they will give priority to 53 regions in Baja California, explaining that this includes not only neighborhoods, but areas that are facing social abandonment conditions with limited access to basic services such as potable water, sewage, and electricity.

To address these shortages, sustainable development plans focused on social infrastructure, public spaces, and paving have been considered as well as the creation of self-sufficient population hubs with schools and parks, access to health, and promotion of sports and cultural activities.

Lastly, it was announced that during visits to these communities, 21 programs from the Secretariat of Wellbeing of Baja California will be presented in order to promote the programs and ensure that people who need them can have access to available aid.

Through this close collaboration, both the governor and the mayor of Tijuana are looking to create a real and positive impact in the lives of the people of Tijuana.
