Municipal President Ismael Burgueño Ruiz explained that Tijuana will have first-rate streetlights in order to improve the city's urban image to strengthen infrastructure and prevent crime rates with illuminated streets.
"We will make Tijuana a city of light. We are working in an installation framework. I am sure that by installing first-rate lights and replacing the ones that don't work anymore, we will be able to decrease crime rates as part of our prevention strategy regarding security matters," the mayor claimed.
He explained that in this framework they are looking to identify the areas of the city that need this service urgently, with the goal of helping citizens walk through these areas safely at night with help from these first-rate lights.
"Through Municipal Utilities and Urban Development Services we are doing an analysis where we can focus on these areas. Besides providing security, we will strengthen infrastructure and make the city more beautiful," Burgueño Ruiz added.
Lastly, he added that his administration will work to transform Tijuana into an illuminated city with better infrastructure in coordination with the state and federation, as these are some of the promises he made during his campaign.
