The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, through the Secretariat of Health of Baja California has consolidated progress and achievements that have allowed the population to access medical and hospital care; at the same time, this allows them to assist vulnerable groups and/or rural areas.
Among highlighted achievements, there is the conclusion of the Children's Maternal Hospital of Tijuana expansion, which will allow obstetrics and gynecology services to be transferred from the busy General Hospital of Tijuana to a more adequate, equipped, and specialized center.
The governor has made it clear that her commitment is to use resources in a transparent and efficient manner to benefit the people of Baja California.
Bienestar Clínicas in Baja California: IMSS Bienestar
In coordination with the Federal Government led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, medical care has begun to be provided at Bienestar Clinics, which allow for the strengthening of public health programs in Baja California.
The five clinics in the state offer multiple free benefits such as medical consultations, dental consultations, eye and eyeglasses exams, lab studies, ultrasound, colposcopy, mammograms, medical delivery, and lab samples for people who are not registered in this social service.
With extended hours from 8 AM to 5 PM from Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 2 PM, clinics are located at the following locations:
- Clínica del Bienestar El Ranchito: P. del Valle, Villa del Campo 2da. Secc, 22254 Villa del Campo, Tijuana.
- Clínica del Bienestar Chihuahua: Calle Privada Miguel Hidalgo s/n Col. Chihuahua, Tijuana.
- Clínica del Bienestar El Niño: Calle la Niña and Cuerpo de Bomberos 5525 Fracc. El Niño (next to Cecyte), Tijuana.
- Clínica del Bienestar Maneadero: Francisco I. Madero 29, El Maneadero Parte Baja CP. 22790, Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada, Ensenada.
- Clínica del Bienestar Estación Delta, Delta Oaxaca, 21700 Ejido Oaxaca, Mexicali.
Mobile health centers: providing medical care to rural communities in Baja California
Through the Mobile Health Center program, the Secretariat of Health provides free medical services in order to prevent, detect, and treat several different conditions in vulnerable or remote communities.
This program has equipped vehicles to provide medical consultations, take vital signs, dental consultations, clinical labs, mammograms, electrocardiograms, pelvic-obstetrics-renal ultrasound, pediculosis prevention, densitometry, psychology, audiometric tests, optometry, and vaccinations.

Free cataract surgeries in Baja California
During the Marina del Pilar administration thousands of free cataract surgeries have been carried out in seniors 65 years of age or older living in the state.
This program has benefited patients that are not beneficiaries and show symptoms such as cloudy vision, difficulty seeing with lights, and have diabetes, dyslipidemia, or hypertension.
”Código Infarto” and preventive measures in cardiovascular health
The Secretariat of Health of Baja California through its Red Código Infarto program has saved 386 lives in the state, with prompt care on people that went through acute myocardial infarctions and risk detection coverage through "Casas del Corazón".
116,000 hypertension, 114,000 diabetes, and 117,000 obesity screenings have taken place, making health access easier for vulnerable communities.
Outpatient Oncological Center provides care for children and adults in Tijuana
This space is designed so that children and adults can receive medical care and undergo several different outpatient surgeries such as biopsies, catheter placements, radiotherapy, among others.
It has consultation areas, psychological care, play therapy, oncological administrations, and recovery areas and care.
For children, there are spaces assigned so that they can continue their academic studies while in treatment.
As such, the state government, led by Governor Marina del Pilar, shows its commitment to all Baja Californians, guaranteeing the right to health in several different municipalities and providing high-quality medical care.
Currently, the IMSS Bienestar program continues to move forward in the state, while three hospitals are under construction, which will guarantee free care for all citizens.
