With the goal of ensuring that the water supply reaches the most vulnerable neighborhoods, the government led by Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, through the State Commission of Public Utilities of Mexicali (CESPM), supervised the progress of a project at Colonia Hacienda in Mexicali which will benefit more than 950 people.

Armando Carrazco López, director of CESPM, stated that one of Governor Marina del Pilar's orders has been to aid people with the most needs, especially those who live in remote areas away from urban centers. That's why, meetings with neighbors took place in order to develop the project that will provide a better quality of life for the area's residents.

"We have spoken with neighbors, we have been working for weeks, they have approached us, and we have noted the needs they had. They spoke about how there hasn’t been a potable water system in this neighborhood in 25 years. We saw what the project was and what we needed to build and today we have installed around 3,600 square lineal meters of pipes," he explained.

Carrazco López added that this project was implemented alongside the CESPM system maintenance team, which is why it won't cost residents a single cent. It is expected that the neighborhood's water system is completed in the upcoming weeks.

In addition, residents will have easy access to hire water utilities in their homes and will be able to take advantage of available benefits, some of which will be for seniors, people with disabilities, or people in a vulnerable condition.

Guadalupe López Sámano, resident of Colonia Hacienda in Mexicali, thanked state government authorities and the agency for this achievement which have provided water supply for the area.

"Thank God, we are able to have water. For us, it is very satisfying to have water, that after all these years, we have finally been heard," he said.
