During Montserrat Caballero administration, UMAS provided 3,300 public service actions in Tijuana

The human team belonging to this unit is in constant training

During the government of mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, the Municipal Unit of Social Aid (UMAS) provided 3,300 public service actions to help citizens in Tijuana.

The work carried out by the UMAS team consisted of addressing the immediate needs of the people of Tijuana generated through the emergency numbers 9-1-1 and 075.

During the Montserrat Caballero administration, UMAS personnel managed to persuade 810 men and women that were trying to cause themselves harm, preventing them from risking their own lives.

Bibiana Jiménez Ramírez, coordinator of this unit, pointed out that just from January to September 2024, 221 people who were trying to harm themselves were assisted. They were able to be saved, which means that this unit was able to achieve the goal for which it was created.

In 2024, the UMAS team intervened in 794 incidents that included suicidal behavior, social labor, crisis assistance, fires, natural disasters, medical assistance, domestic violence, etc.

Jiménez Ramírez revealed that from October 2021 to September 2024, they have provided medical and/or psychological assistance to people who required it.

In addition, the human team is constantly training and updating itself regarding diagnosis and disorder issues, as well as medical matters.
