Alejandra Torres wins 2024 Tijuana National Poetry Award

The award was given for her work, "La oscuridad amarilla por dentro"

The Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC) gave the 2024 Tijuana National Poetry Award to Chihuahua native writer, Alejandra Torres García, for her work "La oscuridad es amarilla por dentro" (Darkness is yellow inside) in a special ceremony that took place at the Casa de Cultura Tijuana theater.

Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, through the Secretariat of Wellbeing Tijuana, promotes actions that incentivize writers to contribute to the cultural growth of our city and country.

The director of IMAC, Jesús Emmanuel Villalba León, stated that this poem collection was selected from 128 works received. It was signed with the pseudonym "Samo" (Jean-Michel Basquiat), who is the main character and narrator of ghosts, mirrors, and pets.

The winner was given by the head of this agency the economic prize of 80,000 pesos and 100 copies of this book.

For the first time, the winners of the last editions, Carlos Alberto Rodríguez (2021), Fernando Trejo (2022), and Alejandra Rioseco (2023) gathered here to share their experience regarding this award. Singer Alex Rod also participated in this event.
