Tijuana out of the Top 5 of most violent cities in the world

This border city is no longer in the list of most violent cities

Tijuana is now out of the list of the top 5 most violent cities in the world, according to the latest study by the Citizen Council of Public Security and Penal Justice (CCSPJP) published in 2024.

In this ranking, which includes 50 cities of the world with more than 300,000 people and with the highest homicide rates in the world, the first place is Colima, with a homicide rate of 140.32 homicides per 100,000 people; it is followed by Ciudad Obregón, Sonora.

3rd place is Port-au-Price, Haiti; 4th place is Zamora, Michoacán, and the 5th place is Manzanillo, Colima, with a homicide rate of 102.58 per 100,000 people.

It should be noted that this study ranked Tijuana #1 as the most violent city in the world in 2018 and 2019, while last year, with data from 2022, it was ranked #5.

This means that Tijuana has had a continuous drop in its homicide rate from 105.12 to 91.76.

The 24th Municipal Administration of Tijuana led by mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez has maintained a policy since her first day of crime prevention that has given results especially in highly vulnerable neighborhoods. In addition, she has strengthened the Municipal Police with continuous training and high technology for better and greater results.
