The 24th Municipal Administration of Tijuana led by mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez invited the families of Tijuana to celebrate the anniversary of Mexican Independence this Sunday, September 15.
"Last year's experience was not very good because the streets in Downtown Tijuana are very narrow and starting from 3rd Street, one could not see clearly, only with the screens. In 2022, it went very well, there was attendance from approximately 15,000 people and we hope this time around it is the same number," Miguel Ángel Torres Ponce, director of Social Communication and Public Relations of the 24th Municipal Administration of Tijuana, explained.
From the roundabout where the monument called Padre de la Patria, Miguel Hidalgo, is located next to the Municipal Palace, mayor Montserrat Caballero will led the official ceremony of the Independence Cry, in the last year of her administration.
"It is the last year we have, the municipal president is very excited about leading her last ceremony of the Independence Cry, we hope to see you all this upcoming Sunday. This event will start at 4 PM," Torres Ponce added.
The official spoke about the closure of the two lanes of Bulevar Independencia starting at 2 PM on Saturday, September 14 to go over the details of the Mexican Fiesta. On Sunday, the roads around the municipal precinct will be completely closed, which is why people who usually drive through these roads are recommended to plan ahead in order to prevent any setbacks.
As part of the event that will begin at 4 PM with an outdoors celebration, the municipal government has an artistic program prepared with a show by a Divo de Juárez, Juan Gabriel, imitator followed by performance by a Jenny Rivera imitator. Plus, since this is a Mexican celebration, regional Mexican music will be performed by mariachi and the band Melody from Tijuana.
Approximately at 9 PM, a live broadcast from Mexico City of the Independence Cry by the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will take place. One hour later, at 10 PM, the protocol of the Independence Cry by the municipal president of Tijuana, Montserrat Caballero, will be taking place.
After that, the artistic program will continue with a performance by Crecer Germán and the grand finale will star Sonora Dinamita.
In addition, in order to guarantee the safety of all attendants during this family celebration, preventive operations by Municipal Police agents will be implemented.
