The Committee of Tourism and Conventions of Playas de Rosarito (COTUCO) presented their activity program for the 2024 autumn-winter season, bringing together an assortment of events that you cannot miss.

The president of COTUCO Rosarito, César Rivera González, spoke about the program of the upcoming months, which includes sports, musical, artistic, and gastronomic events.

Down below, you'll find a list with free options, concerts, artistic performances, gastronomic festivals, and sports events which will help you to disconnect and have lots of fun.

This program is designed so that no one stays at home, as there are events for every taste and you for sure won't want to miss any of them.

September

Mexican Surf Open (September 14 and 15)

Playas de Rosarito will be the stage of the 2nd edition of the Mexican Surf Open, a competition where the best national and international surfers will be gathered together.

This exciting competition will take place on September 14 and 15, and it promises to be a show full of excitement.

On this occasion, state champion Nathan Diaz will be part of the competition, while the winners of the 1st edition, Rafael Pereira from Venezuela and Maya Mateja from Oaxaca, will return to defend their titles in the male and female shortboard modality.

The Mexican Surf Open will offer high-level competitions and an amazing musical lineup. At 6 PM, you can enjoy the Californian reggae of Bad Michis; at 7:15 PM, Salvia Real will fuse rock with Latin rhythms, and at 8:15 PM, Quino McWhinney of Big Mountain will be playing his unique blend of reggae.

Competition will be divided in three categories:

• Men’s Shortboard Open

• Women’s Shortboard Open

• Mixed Bodyboard

The Mexican Surf Open will be awarding $10,000 dollars in prizes among winners and participation of around 120 surfers from different parts of the world is expected.

First Bartender Festival (September 22)

Rosarito will have its first Bartender Festival on September 22 at 2 PM. It is an exclusive event for people 18 years of age or older that offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a variety of impressive drinks while contributing to a noble cause: supporting two orphanages and a home for women who have been victims of violence.

By paying only $25 dollars, attendants will be able to delight themselves with an exquisite paella, a Caesar salad, and tastings of all the different prepared drinks by the region's best bartenders.

Each bartender will compete with their signature drink, a unique drink that should stand out due to its creativity and flavor.

This event will take place at Restaurante Hacienda Km 43 and besides this amazing mixology competition, this festival will offer a mood full of vibes thanks to an amazing performance by Quino, renowned vocalist of reggae group "Big Mountain."

Rosarito-Ensenada Bicycle Ride (September 28)

The Rosarito-Ensenada Bicycle Ride is back! Considered one of Baja California's most important athletic events, this traditional ride will take place on Saturday, September 28.

This is an event that gathers participants from different parts of the world and will take them through an exciting 50-mile (80 km) ride that begins at the Rosarito Beach Hotel and ends at the port of Ensenada.

The ride begins at the Rosarito Beach Hotel at 10 AM and must be finished at least at 4 PM.

Cyclists will enjoy amazing landscapes and a family and festive mood throughout this event, which is accessible for everyone, even if you don't have any experience.

Tickets are available in two categories: regular tickets at $850 pesos ($44 dollars plus commission fee) and the elite ticket at $950 pesos ($49 dollars plus commission fee). The latter is for the most experienced cyclists, who look to challenge themselves in order to complete the ride in approximately 2 and ½ hours.

Café en el Mar (September 29)

Prepare yourselves for a new edition of "Café en el Mar"! This event dedicated to promoting and supporting local coffee shops is coming back stronger than ever. On September 29 from 1 PM to 9 PM, the gardens of the Rosarito Beach Hotel will become the perfect stage for coffee fans, where locals and tourists will be able to enjoy all of their flavors.

This event will offer a unique experience with 45 participating stands which will include gastronomic options, handcrafted pastries, and the highest quality of coffee. Among the businesses showing up to this event, there will be:

• Latte Café

• Pan artesanal Aroma

• Café Don Máximo

• Canto Café

• Café del Mar

In addition, there will be an exciting latte art contest and live music, with performances by a music group and mariachi.

BandCamp (October 12 and 13)

Prepare yourself for a unique musical experience in Baja California! BandCamp 2024 will take place at the El Palmar Paradise aquatic park in Rosarito on October 12 and 13.

This music camp, the first of its type in the region, has as a goal to strengthen and enrich the local musical industry, creating an ideal space for bands and artists to connect, learn, and show off their talent.

BandCamp will offer a wide variety of programs that include concerts, shops, and conferences which will allow artists and producers to establish valuable alliances for future projects, while the public will be given the chance to discover new talents and enjoy great musical performances.

There will be 16 bands on stage, performing several different musical genres such as jazz, hip hop, rock, and reggae. Some of these bands are:

Dinner and PaIrings at Hacienda de Badú (October 25)

On October 25, you will be able to enjoy a unique culinary experience with a 4-course dinner and pairing at Hacienda de Badú, one of Playas de Rosarito's most emblematic establishments with over 29 years of service and known for its exquisite seasoning and gastronomic offerings.

This special event will take place at 7 PM and it will feature renowned Chef José Esperanza, who will delight attendants with a dinner whose main dish will be the classic chiles en nogada.

Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo Half-Marathon (November 10)

A great opportunity for runners and sports fans! COTUCO Rosarito is inviting everyone to the Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo Half Marathon which will take place on November 10 at 7 AM.

This event is a celebration that attracts running enthusiasts from all over Mexico and the world.

Participants will have the chance to enjoy the impressive landscapes of Rosarito, while running through the 21 kilometers that separate Municipal Auditorium Ernesto Ruffo Appel and Puerto Nuevo Baja Hotel & Villas.

The Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo Half-Marathon is an exciting challenge that attracts athletes of all levels, from those looking to break their own records to those who wish to be crowned as the winners. For people who are interested, registration is open until November 9 at 6 PM, with the following fees per phase:

This year, the Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo Half-Marathon has been honored with a "World Athletics" and Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) certification. This certification guarantees that the 21.0975 km distance between the starting and finish line has been accurately measured, which means that runners can set official records.

Concert by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs (November 16)

One of the most beloved Argentinian bands by the Mexican public, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, is ready to once again delight people at a stage in Playas de Rosarito: Baja California Center.

This iconic group consisting of Vicentico, Flavio Cianciarulo, Fernando Ricciardi, Mario Siperman, Daniel Lozano, Sergio Rotman, Astor Cianciarulo, and Florián Fernández Capell will be performing on November 16 at 9:30 PM to offer a concert that promises to be unforgettable.
