The dollar-peso exchange rate continues to be a crucial issue in the border region, affecting those who are paid in dollars and those who make purchases with this currency. This morning, the dollar had a price of up to $19.60 pesos in some exchange shops, which has caused concern among residents.

A collaborator of the "Garitas de Mexicali" group shared a photo that shows an exchange shop with a very high dollar price. This reflects that there's a lot of variety of prices depending on location and each specific shop.

Will the dollar reach $16.50 pesos again?

While some benefit from the increase in dollar prices, others are affected, especially people who make purchases with this currency. Many people are asking whether the dollar will ever be 16.50 pesos again. Analysts claim that the dollar's price will drop, but so far this has not happened.

Prices in exchange shops and banks

The San Diego Red team visited several exchange shops in Bulevar Agua Caliente in Tijuana, close to the San Ysidro port of entry. Though we didn't find places where the dollar was over 19 pesos per unit, prices of 18.65 pesos were seen at Plaza West Fargo and other shops in the same boulevard.

Meanwhile, banks were offering the dollar at higher prices, with BBVA selling it at 19.50 pesos. It should be noted that exchange rates can vary depending on the bank or exchange shop.
