You'll cross the border! Run in first binational marathon from San Ysidro to Tijuana

The Binational Race Half Marathon is a unique athletic experience that transcends borders and brings together athletes from both cities

Athletes and runners from both sides of the border will come together in the 1st edition of the Binational Race Half Marathon Tijuana-San Diego, a unique event that promises to unite two cities through sports.

The Binational Race Half Marathon will take place during the Mexican holiday Independence Day weekend on Sunday, September 15 and will begin at 6:30 AM.

What is the route of the Binational Race Half Marathon?

This route will make you run 21.097 kilometers (13 miles) and its starting point will be Las Americas Premium Outlets in San Ysidro.

During this the race, participants will run through Camino de la Plaza Avenue and Dairy Mart Road and will subsequently cross the international San Ysidro - El Chaparral international port of entry, through Interstate 5, where authorities will allow runners to get to Mexico. It will be essential for your runner number to be visible and to use this event's designated lanes and times.

Once in Mexico, participants will run through a special line in Avenida Internacional, a road that will showcase amazing panoramic views that will take them to Plaza de Toros Monumental, where the finish line is located.

Requirements to participate in the Binational Race Half Marathon

It should be noted that, due to the binational nature of this event, runners will have to show the usual migration documents to be admitted to the United States, depending on their nationality or immigration status. It is recommended to keep these documents safe to prevent any loss or incident.

In addition, to participate in this half marathon, runners must know that this race will take 3 hours and 30 minutes to compete, with a specific requirement to finish the first 10 kilometers within 1 hour and 30 minutes due to border crossing procedures.

This event's capacity is limited to 4,000 participants, which is why people are recommended to register early to ensure their place in this race.

What does registration include?

Participants who register in this race will receive a Race Packet that includes their participant number, a chip, and a T-shirt of the event.

When the race is over, all runners will receive commemorative medals of the 1st edition of the Binational Race Half Marathon.

For an additional cost, there will transportation services provided by SDTJ Passport which will make returning to the US-Mexico border easier from the finish line for participants and their families.
