"Héroes Paisanos", program that allows you to cross the border to Tijuana with customs relief of $500 dollars, is promoted

This initiative looks to make the entry of fellow citizens legally living in the United States or Canada much easier

The Customs Agents Association of Tijuana and Tecate have reminded fellow foreign citizens that the program "Héroes Paisanos" will remain active until August 18, which means that they can enter the country with a customs relief of up to $500 dollars in addition to their personal belongings.

The Héroes Paisanos Program by the National Institute of Migration (INM) is an initiative that looks to make the entry, transit, and departure of Mexicans legally residing in the US or Canada much easier.

Aram Hodoyan, president of the Customs Agents Association of Tijuana and Tecate, explained that this federal program is active three times a year: during Holy Week, from March 8 to April 7, in the Summer, from July 18 to August 18, and in Winter, from November 28 to January 12.

As the summer period is about to conclude, people are reminded that fellow citizens can still benefit from the amount that this customs relief provides when entering Mexico.

Mexican living abroad can enter the country at any time during the year with a customs relief of $300 dollars, but thanks to this program, the amount is increased to $500 dollars.

You can bring in merchandise, besides your luggage, as customs relief and the amount can accumulate with each member of your family, as long as they travel together in the same vehicle and enter the country by land.

The Héreos Paisanos program was launched to make returning to Mexico by fellow citizens living abroad much easier, especially during the holiday season through assistance in several different spots to improve their experience and safety during their stay in the country.

In Tijuana, fellow citizens can request help at the El Chaparral port of entry, the Otay port of entry, the Tijuana International Airport, the Cross Border Express, the Bus Station, and Banjército Otay.
