People are being asked to drive carefully and watch over children to prevent accidents

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda urges Baja Californians to intensify safety measures during this summer vacation period to prevent accidents, so that families can enjoy their holidays at home and outside.

The state governor emphasized her government's commitment with the wellbeing of all citizens, which is why authorities of the three levels of government are coordinating in order to guarantee a safe environment for everyone.

She called on people who are planning to go on vacation to have their cars checked by a mechanic, check out weather conditions, have all passengers use seatbelts, obey speed limits and traffic signs, and report any incident they see on the road by calling 911.

She pointed out that drivers should not drive under the influence of alcohol, harmful substances, or while tired, not use cellphones or any other thing that could distract them while driving, and she recommended people to have a designated driver to protect all passengers.

As such, when leaving home it is important to disconnect all devices in order to avoid short circuits and correctly close all gas tanks and outlets in order to protect the family property.

Marina del Pilar encouraged parents to look out for children during this vacation period, by keeping them away from objects that could harm them and to prevent long exposure to high temperatures so as to avoid burns and heat stroke.

Lastly, the governor recalled the diversity that Baja California has and the cultural and recreational experiences that the several municipalities of the state are offering to all families.
