During the morning press conference of Friday, June 21, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, confirmed that he will continue to tour Baja California in a joint tour with president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
This visit is scheduled as part of a series of tours through several Mexican states where both political leaders will evaluate infrastructure projects, issues related to economic development, and social programs.
López Obrador emphasized that he will be visiting Baja California during the first week of July where the main key points to be addressed will be the monitoring of the electric interconnection between Mexicali and Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, through the photovoltaic solar plant.
"Next weekend it is very probable that we go visit the Mayan Train and then after we would visit the two Baja Californias."
The president said that they are planning to evaluate several different regional projects such as the IMSS-Bienestar, La Escuela Es Nuestra, and Sembrando Vida programs.
It should be noted that this tour will extend through six or seven weekends in several states of Mexico as they will review several key issues such as the Mayan Train, PEMEX, and the Interoceanic Train.
In addition, the president has shown interest on Claudia Sheinbaum continuing with the infrastructure projects that he has promoted during his administration as well as reforms and initiatives and reforms proposed by the government of the "Fourth Transformation". It is expected that this tour will strengthen the cooperation and transition between both administrations.
