Weather authorities released a statement regarding the beginning of hurricane season in the country. The first on the list is storm "Alberto" which is currently a potential tropical cyclone and it is expected to reach the country's coasts soon.
Potential tropical cyclone "Alberto" will reach Mexican coasts
National Weather Service (SMN) revealed their forecast regarding Potential Tropical Cyclone One where it is expected to become Tropical Storm Alberto, the first name on the 2024 Atlantic list, in the early hours of Tuesday, June 18.
It is expected that this cyclone will strengthen and become a tropical storm before getting to land in Tamaulipas in the evening of Wednesday, June 19 or in early Thursday, June 20.
According to its path, it is forecasted that it passes through the state of Tamaulipas, then Nuevo Leon, and ends its path at the borders of San Luis Potosi.
The forecast by the National Commission of Water (CONAGUA) says that this cyclone's path could create very heavy rain or intense showers in the following states:
Campeche
Chiapas
Oaxaca
Puebla
Quintana Roo
Tamaulipas
Veracruz
Yucatán
Hidalgo
San Luis Potosí
