President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had a conversation with US president Joe Biden where they spoke about the construction of new border bridges and the completion of the Otay II port of entry which will benefit Tijuana natives who cross daily.
Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, presidential spokesman, read the statement written by the White House on Tuesday and pointed out that Biden informed López Obrador about the authorization to create three bridges and their location. This is what he said:
“Besides these 3 bridges, we are about to finish the Otay II port of entry in Tijuana. We even beat our neighbors, brothers from the other side because they are supposed to do the same, and they still haven't finished, but this is going to be progress.”
The president said that the bridges that they will build are:
- Expansion of the World Trade Bridge in Nuevo Laredo III-IV between Tamaulipas and Texas where 40% of binational trade goes through.
- New multimodal “Puerto Verde” crossing between Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and Eagle Pass, Texas.
- New “Flor de Mayo” crossing between Matamoros and Brownsville, Texas.
We spoke with President Biden and very respectful, things are going well. On Friday, there will be a meeting in Washington to check projects between Mexican and American businesspeople, and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs will be there, admiral Ojeda will be there, and we are also going to talk about support for our neighboring country, our brother people of Guatemala.
In addition, President Biden congratulated Mexico for the election in which the first female president of the country was elected.
