The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, invited people to participate in Macro Simulacro Estatal de Sismo 2024 (2024 State Macro Earthquake Drill), which will take place on Thursday, April 4 at 10 AM with support from the State Coordination of Civil Protection in order to strengthen risk prevention culture.
The state governor said that this activity, to which she is inviting families, companies, shops, and public and private institutions to participate in, will take place in the anniversary of the earthquake that occurred on April 4, 2010, whose epicenter was in the municipality of Mexicali.
The head of the State Coordination of Civil Protection, Salvador Cervantes Hernández, stated that this exercise will take place with the hypothesis of an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2, which will allow procedures and response protocols to be evaluated for a possible emergency situation. These are the procedures and protocols that are currently part of the Civil Protection Internal Program in shops, companies, and civil society and government institutions.
"This drill will take place simultaneously across the entire state and will allow citizens to become aware of the gravity of earthquakes and knowing what to do and how to act in case they happen in real life," the state official said.
It should be noted that people interested in this preventive exercise can register by using the official registration form.
