Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda led the official ceremony to celebrate International Women's Day. During the event, she spoke about her point of view regarding women's fight for equality, the complete affirmation of their rights, and the search for a life free of violence where they have the necessary conditions to achieve their goals.

As the governor of Baja California, she reiterated her willingness to break obstacles that block women from their complete development and especially living without violence, through coordinated work to place women as the center of public policies while facing off against an unequal system. As such, she confirmed the success of the Center for the Justice of Women in Tijuana and its expansion that is making progress in the state with the construction of the center in San Quintin. In addition, she said that progress is being shown of this center in Mexicali.

She spoke about the actions they are currently carrying out such as operations by the Violet Squard that are looking to guarantee the security of women in several different roles, the Violet Card that supports them economically, and Mujeres al Volante, created in Baja California and repeated in several different cities in Mexico.

The governor highlighted legislative efforts such as the bill introduced together with representative Michelle Sanchez, which is looking to provide scholarships for children of victims of feminicide, allocating 10 million pesos in this first period. In addition, she emphasized the importance of following current laws and working to provide justice with a gender perspective at all government levels, including the state's Judicial Branch.

In addition, she recognized the difficulties that women face on their daily life, from obstacles in an unequal system to discrimination and wage gaps, stressing the importance of changing public policies and the established culture and encouraging women to raise their voice in search of a fairer and more inclusive future.

In her speech, the state governor recalled inspiring personalities in the fight for equality such as Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Doña Ifigenia Martínez, and Doña Rosario Barra de Piedra and those women who perform essential daily roles, from single mothers to women who take care of people with disabilities.

The following people attended this event: president of the board of DIF Baja California, Mavis Olmeda García; director of the Center for the Justice of Women (CEJUM), Magdalena Bautista Ramírez, and the Secretary of Culture, Alma Delia Ábrego, as well as women defenders of human rights and other special guests.
