During his national press conference, president Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on Friday that, regarding the attack against independent journalist, Yolanda Caballero, a thorough investigation must be carried out.

In addition, he pointed out that he perfectly knows both municipal president Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, who is an upright person, and the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and claimed that they will work together in order to find the culprits of this violent act.

Lastly, regarding facts being reported on a media outlet hours before this incident happened, the president said that the proper authorities will be the ones who will provide evidence and solve this investigation.

As such, he concluded, the important thing is that the journalist is fine, and he condemned the act. He also said that both in Tijuana and Baja California, freedom of expression is a fundamental right that is respected.
