Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced that that the state has been chosen by a unanimous decision as the venue of the 49th edition of Tianguis Turístico México 2025, Latin America's most important tourism event.

The governor highlighted that Baja California, specifically Tijuana, was chosen for several different factors such as the strengthening of its flight connectivity and the chance that it offers to break a new attendance record from tour operators, especially from California, other US states, and Canada.

Baja California is proud of being the venue of Tianguis Turístico México 2025. We warmly thank the support that has been given to us by the government of Mexico, led by the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, through the Secretariat of Tourism. This selection is evidence of the unity and commitment shared to strengthen the tourism industry of our region.

It should be noted that Tijuana has experienced sustained growth regarding the arrival of international tourists, with the US and Canada markets being the main boosters of this phenomenon.

In the first 11 months of 2023, there was a 3.3% increase of American tourists which reached a total of 12 million US tourists. Notably, the tourism flow from Canadians increased by 45.3%, with a total of 2,114,000 visitors, which represents 72.8% of the total international visitors to Mexico.

According to the Secretariat of Tourism of Mexico, the 49th edition of Tianguis Turístico México 2025 is looking to break previous records regarding the participation of tour operators with a special focus on the US, Canada, Japan, China, South Korea, and Singapore markets, and emphasizing the presence of European and South American travel agents.

The Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, Miguel Ángel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, highlighted that the choice of Tijuana as a venue is the result of the joint effort by the entire touristic value chain. The strategic location of our state, with a border with the United States and an extensive Pacific coast, consolidates it as an ideal region to promote sustainable tourism promotion.

In addition, our region enjoys exceptional flight connectivity, which will make the arrival of participants from all over the world easier so that they can enjoy our treasures.

The official also underscored that, with Baja California being chosen as the venue of Tianguis Turístico México 2025, it is expected that the region continues to consolidate itself as a first-rate tourism destination and that this edition becomes a landmark in the history of Latin America's most distinguished tourism event.
