Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, presented a series of actions to assist the most vulnerable people of Guerrero, after they were affected by Hurricane Otis. Among the standout actions there is the support from the assistance brigade from the State DIF to support orders by the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado.
During the 102nd edition of Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar, which took place in Tijuana, the state governor pointed out that new collection centers in Baja California have been set up. Two are in Mexicali, two in Tijuana, and 1 in each remaining municipality.
Regarding this, the General Secretary of Baja California, Catalino Zavala Márquez and the managing director of state DIF, Mónica Vargas Nuñez, pointed out that the goal is to gather the highest amount of possible aid for people in Guerrero, which is why he is inviting people to donate essential cleaning and hygiene items as well as non-perishable food. This aid will be given to those who need it.
Vargas Núñez reiterated that the state DIF will send a caravan of humanitarian aid with experts on Civil Protection, Community Feeding, Social Assistance, and Fun and Cultural Activities. The latter is an activity meant to bring relief to children at study centers, shelters, and communal spaces.
On the other hand, the director of DIF highlighted that they are still promoting assistance at the community centers and family development centers of this institution, where they offer training and pay attention to sports, culture, art, and several activities that allow for people to earn their own income.
"We will continue to work and putting our heart above all to benefit our children and teenagers, as well as those people who require prioritized assistance, following the order to transform the state into a space where people can enjoy a better quality of life," she said
At this morning press conference, the director of the Short Tijuana-Tecate Route Agency (ADMICARGA), Antonio Rodríguez Otañez, was also present and he spoke about the export project of train merchandise between Tijuana and San Ysidro. This will boost the economy and create jobs while also protecting and reducing polluting gas emissions.
Digitalization of procedures in Baja California is making progress: Marina del Pilar
Another thing that was addressed at this press conference by the director of the Digital Agency of Baja California, Gabriel Alberto Palombo, was the digitalization process of 221 procedures, of which one third can be started and be finished completely online.
"We are also applying this technology to assist all citizens. Through the Unique Model of Citizen Assistance, we will assist the population 24/7/365. On average, we get 30,000 monthly calls and more than 23,000 digital interactions with a citizen satisfaction rate of 90% among citizens," the state official said.
It should be noted that Governor Marina del Pilar demonstrated how the mobile application "Identidad Digital BC" works, in which citizens can get their digital circulation card and driver's license, which will make these procedures easier to do.
