Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda met with leaders of teachers' unions of Baja California to reiterate her administration's commitment in collaborating and continuing to improve the education system in Baja California in order to guarantee quality to benefit children and teenagers that go to school.

Before the beginning of the 2023-2024 school cycle, the state governor informed that on Tuesday, August 22, 80,000 students were admitted into state high schools such as Cobach, CECYTE, Conalep, and military high schools.

It will be next Monday, August 28, when officially more than 660,000 students will be admitted into kindergarten, elementary, and secondary school, making Baja California leader in national educational population, as education is the driving force of the development and progress in the country, with 1,045,115 students in Baja California.

At this meeting, the following people were present: the Secretary of Education of Baja California, Gerardo Arturo Solís Benavidez, Juan Enrique Villanueva, leader of Section 2 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE); Ampelio Íñiguez, leader of Section 37 of SNTE; Héctor Lara of SETE; Agustín Morales of STE BC; Salvador Rubio of SIETE BC; the representative of the National Executive Committee of SNTE Section 2, Elpidio Yáñez; and representatives of the National Committee of Section 37 of SNTE, Jaime García, and Felipe Antúnez.

Marina del Pilar thanked the willingness of representatives of union organizations to support the construction of better education in Baja California as well as their willingness to join efforts that are carried out daily to address education needs, prioritizing at all times the wellbeing and rights of all students.

For his part, Secretary Solís Benavides pointed out that Baja California is creating an education plan with the terms of the New Mexican School which recognizes education as the main pillar of transformation and social development. In addition, the goal is for students to have the right to an excellent, inclusive, pluricultural, collaborative, and equitable education throughout their school years.

On the other hand, at Heroico Cuerpo de Bomberos Mexicali facilities, Governor Marina del Pilar delivered, alongside mayor Norma Alicia Bustamente Martínez, aid equal to 6,425,000 million pesos to 1,285 members of the fire department in the seven municipalities of Baja California. This will be a benefit with incentives of 5,000 pesos to people responsible for the safety and wellbeing of all families in the entire state.
