The National Coordination of Civil Protection shared on its digital platforms that Hurricane Hilary, previously classified as Category 4, has weakened and it is now a Category 3. However, it continues to advance, as it was forecasted, towards Baja California.
Right now, Hilary is located in the Pacific Ocean, 375 kilometers west of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California, and 630 kilometers south-southeast of Punta Eugenia. There are maximum sustained winds of 205 km/hr, with gusts of up to 250 km/hr.

Classes suspended due to Hurricane Hilary in Baja California
It is important to keep in mind that the impact of this hurricane on Baja California and the entire region will begin on Saturday evening and all throughout Sunday. In fact, the Secretariat of Education of Baja California has announced that classes are suspended on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday due to the arrival of the Hilary storm.
"The Secretariat of Education, following the recommendations of Civil Protection of Baja California, informs that all school activities are suspended from Saturday, August 19 until Monday, August 21. This decision is based on forecasts issued due to the arrival of Hurricane Hilary, in order to minimize risks and guarantee the safety of our community," they said in an official statement.
