In repeated occasions, incidents have been reported where car owners come back to their parked vehicles near Plaza Las Americas, and even inside the mall, and find that a window has been broken or forced open. In fact, these incidents have been reported since 2018.
That’s why it is not surprising to find a citizen report in the monitoring border crossing group "Cómo está la línea San Ysidro y Otay", where a user was witness and shared photographs of these incidents.

The user, aware that this group is meant to monitor the ports of entry, felt the need to warn people about parking their cars in nearby streets (especially in front of the outlet stores). According to him, Wednesday, June 21, was the fourth time he had seen a broken window in the area.
The community of users has responded to this warning and shared their own experiences, confirming that they have been witnesses to similar incidents. Some have even speculated that it could be one person who is upset at people parking in the neighborhood.
So far, authorities haven’t provided any information about these vandalism acts. In addition, it is unknown if the people who were affected have reported these incidents to the authorities. Due to this, it is recommended that people take precautions to avoid similar experiences and safeguard the security of their vehicles parked in this area.
