On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Varios Cande”, located at Avenida Paseo del Río, Tercera Etapa in Río Tijuana. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a chicken milanesa taco and a stuffed pepper taco, both priced at $1.66 dollars ($30 pesos).
Chicken Milanesa Taco
This taco has chicken milanesa, black beans, rice, purple pickled onion, green salsa, and is served on two handmade corn tortillas. The first thing to note about this taco was its size and the amount of chicken served as, at first glance, it looked quite crunchy.
When he tried it, Chef Danny confirmed that it was crunchy and that the chicken was not overcooked, as he claimed that he could enjoy the flavor and juiciness of the chicken. In addition, the sourness of the onion and the salsa were necessary so that the taco wasn’t very dry. The black beans added a lot of flavor. He added that the chicken milanesa could be enjoyed without it being in a taco due to its crunchiness and how seasoned the breading was. This is why the taco gets a rating of 8.8.

Stuffed Pepper Taco
This taco has stuffed pepper, black beans, rice, tomato sauce, and is served on two corn tortillas. When he grabbed it, Chef Danny claimed that it was a heavy taco which meant that the pepper was indeed stuffed with a lot of cheese.
When he tried it, Chef Danny said that despite it having tomato sauce, it was somewhat dry. However, he was able to taste the flavor of the black beans and the asadero cheese which had a good and firm texture. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.6.
