Yesterday, Tuesday January 17, 2023, 14-year-old-child, Mitzi Xiomara Morales Jaramillo, who went missing last January 9 in the city of Mexicali, was located in the state of Nayarit.

In today’s press conference, on Wednesday, January 18, the State’s Attorney General, Iván Carpio stated that once the minor was reported as missing to his agency, investigation efforts began, starting with the child’s family address. Once tracking measures were completed and specific data was obtained, a possibility was raised that she could be in another state and not in Baja California.

These intelligence efforts deducted that the child could be in the state of Nayarit; as such, detective agents of the Attorney General Office traveled to Nayarit and in collaboration with this same agency in this state, they were able to locate the minor, who was found in company of a 27-year-old man.

Through surveillance cameras that were checked to gather information about the minor, she was seen for the last time riding a taxi belonging to private company Didi, which then drove her to where this 27-year-old man was waiting for her in a private vehicle. It should be noted that the Didi driver only drove her as part of his job.

The minor was driven by car to Nayarit by this same individual, who she had met last year on social media. Prosecutor Carpio stated that legal procedures are being carried out to charge him with kidnapping of minors, which carries 5 to 10 years in prison.

It is expected that this individual arrives in Baja California in the next 24 hours to continue his detention process.
