Governor Marina del Pilar reaffirms her commitment with the teachers of Baja California

The governor held a meeting with the leaders of Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación (SNTE)

Governor Marina del Pilar held a meeting today, January 12, 2023, with the leaders of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) in order to speak about education development in the state of Baja California.

Marina del Pilar received the representative of the National Executive Committee (CEN) of SNTE in Baja California, Elpidio Yáñez Rubio, and the leader of Section 2 of this organization, Juan Enrique Villanueva Villa, to whom she reaffirmed her commitment with all teachers in order to build a comprehensive education system to benefit all children and young people in the state.

Representing the head of CEN at SNTE, Alfonso Zepeda, teacher Elpidio Yáñez thanked the governor for her actions regarding union matters, recognizing the state governor’s actions before the government of Mexico so that federal teachers have better conditions.

In addition, he highlighted that the state of Baja California has a distinguished place nationwide due to how much they have contributed regarding education matters. In the last few months, the state has become an example for other states in the country on how to apply public policies to guarantee rights for the union.

For his part, the Secretary of Education of Baja California, Gerardo Arturo Solís Benavides, explained that a series of actions are being developed together with the Secretariat of Work and Social Welfare (STPS) to watch over the labor wellbeing of the state’s teachers.

He also stated that Section 2 of SNTE represents half of the teacher’s union, which is why Governor Marina del Pilar’s agreements represent notable progress in strengthening the relation with teachers, while always thinking about what is best for Baja Californian children and teenagers.
