The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, announced that the school transportation program will be completely free starting in 2023; this is part of a strategic public policy to support the students of Baja California.

At the launch of this program’s enrollment at Colegio de Bachilleres de Baja California (COBACH) facilities in the Guadalupe Victoria Ejido in Valle de Mexicali, Marina del Pilar stressed that since the beginning of her administration in November 2021, actions have been taken to improve school transportation vehicle units and increase working routes.

The governor pointed out that the Comunder program, which includes comfortable and safe trips with air conditioning and geolocators, benefits up to 3,000 students. She also recognized the Instituto de la Juventud de Baja California (Institute of Youth of Baja California) and the Secretariat of Wellbeing for promoting this project.

In addition, she pointed out that, besides Valle de Mexicali, Comunder also takes into account students from other municipalities in Baja California, as two new routes were opened to move students from Tijuana and Tecate to UABC Valle de las Palmas facilities.

“We won’t leave you alone. For me, there’s nothing more important that working so that all of you and your families have the tools to build each of your dreams,” she said.

In addition to the above, the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign (SIDURT) is currently restoring 70 kilometers of roads through 28 different projects with a historic investment of 150 million pesos that will allow more than 100,000 people to travel on these completely rebuilt roads.
