On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Ricas Carnitas El Buches” located at C. San Pedro 222, Magaña, 22106. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a pork mix taco and a rib taco, both priced at $1.25 dollars ($25 pesos).
Rib Taco
This taco has pork rib, pico de gallo, red sauce, and is served on two corn tortillas. It is accompanied by a jalapeño pepper in vinegar and purple onion. The tortillas were steamed and, as such, they had quite a soft consistency.
When he took his first bite, our host claimed that he was surprised by the meat’s great flavor; it had the perfect salt seasoning, a soft texture, and some pieces of it were fried on the outside. The salsa was balanced quite well and the tortillas broke down by themselves in the mouth due to how soft they were. The onion made the taco perfectly balanced, which is why this taco gets a rating of 9.0.

Pork Mix Taco
This taco has surtida (pork belly, lean meat, and skin), pico de gallo, red salsa, and is served on two corn tortillas. Just like the previous taco, it was medium-sized, but it was filled up pretty well, which meant that the taco was bigger just by its filling.
When he tried the taco, Chef Danny claimed that the salsa by itself would give it a high rating due to its great flavor and for not being too spicy. The meat was a little smoked without tasting burned. Chef Danny said that in this place they have a special skill at cooking pork due to its great texture, flavor, and salt level. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.6.
