Governor Marina del Pilar supervises repair work of water supply in Tijuana and Rosarito

It is expected that water supply in the cities of Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito is ready for Tuesday afternoon

Today, on December 27, 2022, Governor Marina del Pilar accompanied staff of the State Utilities Commission of Tijuana (CESPT) who were repairing a water leak at the El Carrizo-El Florido aqueduct, at the level of Ejido Ojo de Agua, which provides water to the cities of Tijuana and Rosarito.

Together with the head of CESPT, Víctor Amador Barragán, the state governor supervised the work by this agency’s staff so that the pipes and water movement to the El Florido water treatment plant could operate effectively. This plant distributes water so that it reaches the cities of Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, as well as northern Ensenada.

In addition, Marian del Pilar thanked citizens’ patience during the time the water supply in the coastal area of Baja California has been cut off and reiterated that, starting in 2023, unprecedented action will be taken on hydraulic infrastructure to ensure adequate water supply for homes and businesses in Baja California.

She emphasized that having water is a right for all people, which is why it is a priority for her state administration that is being applied daily by the Secretariat of Management, Treatment, and Protection of Water of Baja California (SEPROA) which, in the following months, will begin projects alongside the government of Mexico and United States authorities.

For his part, Amador Barragán pointed out that on Sunday, December 25, when the leak was detected, immediate action was taken to identify it and correct it, allowing for a fast recovery of the water supply in communities, especially in lower zones.

In addition, Amador Barragán indicated that water supply will be recovered during Tuesday afternoon and evening, completing its normalization during the first hours of Wednesday, December 28.
