On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Birriería La China Poblana” located at Blvd. Gral. M. Marquez de León, Zona Urbana Rio Tijuana. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: an adobada taco priced at $1 dollar ($20 pesos) and a suadero taco priced at $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos).
Adobada Taco
This taco has adobada, onion, cilantro, guacamole, red sauce, and is served on two packaged corn tortillas. Something to note is that both tortillas were drenched in grease, which gave them a red color.
When he took his first bite, Chef Danny confirmed that though the salsa had a good flavor, it was also quite spicy. The adobada was sliced in big pieces and its flavor touches were very good. However, the tortillas were thin. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.2.
Price: $1 dollar ($20 pesos)
Suadero Taco
This taco has suadero, onion, coriander, red sauce, guacamole, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. Besides the fact that the tortilla was made in this taqueria, it had been recently removed from the comal, something that Chef Danny noticed because of its texture.
When he tried it, Chef Danny stated that the suadero had a lot of flavor. The guacamole was authentic as it had only avocado flesh. However, the tortilla was the hit of this taco as its flavor was quite good and soft and it broke down when chewed. Chef Danny would have preferred if the meat had been greased a little bit more so that it became softer. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.4.
Price: $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos)
