On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El Flaco” located at Jardines de La Mesa 9228. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco and a suadero taco both priced at $1.47 dollars ($28 pesos).
Carne Asada Taco
This taco has beef, onion, cilantro, watery guacamole, huevona sauce, and is served on two corn handmade tortillas. There were two things to note about this taco: first, it had very little avocado since it was only found at the beginning and the tortillas, though they were the usual adobada taco tortillas, were handmade and had good humidity.
The sauce was very spicy and the tortillas had a very good flavor. The only bad thing about this taco is that the tortillas’ size were for “two bites only”. The meat had good seasoning, despite it being only salt and pepper. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.9.
Price: $1.47 dollars ($28 pesos)
Suadero Taco
This taco has suadero (beef cut), onion, cilantro, guacamole, and is served on two handmade corn tortillas. The first thing to highlight was the meat’s color as it had a characteristic red hue, which Chef Danny didn’t know if it was adobo or salsa.
When he first tried it, Chef Danny confirmed his theory that the taco had a lot of flavor, and when he took his first bite he discovered that it was adobo. The sour salsa helped the tortillas to distinguish themselves. The avocado did not help the taco at all. However, the main star here was the suadero due to its great flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.6.
Price: $1.47 dollars ($28 pesos)
