U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is expecting border crossings between Tijuana and San Diego to increase in the next few days, which could create long waiting times between both border cities.
This is because of Thanksgiving, which is quite celebrated in the border region as crossings increase due to families gathering in order to celebrate this holiday.
For their part, CBP issued some recommendations for the entire week since there has been more movement detected in the border. Among these recommendations, they suggest crossing in the very early morning or between 2 PM and 12 AM.
In addition, they recommended citizens with tourist visas who are planning to stay for several days in US soil to get their I-94 permit:
(CBP) strongly encourages travelers to apply for their tourist permits online via the CBP One™ mobile application, available on Google Play or Apple App Store. The I-94 Entry feature allows travelers to apply for a provisional I-94 prior to arriving at a land border crossing.
One should also consider that not only Thanksgiving holidays could cause an increase in waiting times at the San Diego port of entry, but also the much awaited Black Friday.
