The governor of Baja California highlighted that the promotional campaign “Welcome to Baja California” has delivered the expected results, largely due to the supervision of Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez.
During the launch of the Trolleybus Historic Downtown Route, which is a transportation route to promote the first block of the city of Mexicali especially through emblematic areas such as La Chinesca alley, Governor Marina del Pilar highlighted the efforts by entrepreneurs of Mexicali’s Historic Downtown to join projects that are looking to improve the experience of all visitors interested in visiting the state capital. In the same vein, she shared that the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, stated that La Chinesca will be the first area that will acquire the category of Barrio Mágico (“Magic Alley”).
On the other hand, the Governor of Baja California highlighted that through a support program to strengthen micro and small tourist businesses a total of 1.175 billion pesos have been allocated by the state government. This has strengthened the training of around 1,130 tourist services providers. It should be noted that the arrival of cruises has increased by 15.6%, totaling 222 so far this year.
Regarding the trolleybus, Marina del Pilar emphasized the coordination between Mexicali’s Historic Downtown’s shopkeepers and the XXIV Municipal Administration led by mayor Norma Alicia Bustamante Martínez through the municipal representative in this sector, Rubén Chen. He highlighted that, along with the trolleybus, two emblematic businesses of the area were inaugurated: Café Chinesca and Restaurante 19, which are all a part of the recovery of the dynamism of an area that had been abandoned for decades.
The Coordinator of Programs for the Regeneration of Public Areas, Carlos Torres Torres, highlighted the willingness of the Mexicali-Chinese community to be a part of the restoration of the city’s Historic Downtown, generating investments and collaborating with the state and municipal government. This in order to recover an area that should become a synergistic point for national tourism. It should be noted that this tourist transportation route will travel for 2.3 kilometers and will have woman drivers.
