The governor of Baja California Marina del Pilar Ávilar Olmeda spoke about the advantages that the state offers to international and foreign investors, showing how its innovative society and economy has recovered from several challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. She shared this in her participation at the “La IMMEX en México” panel where she took part in as a guest of Index, the main organization of the manufacturing industry in Mexico.

“We are looking for the best alternatives when it comes to investment, for growth, so that development translates into the wellbeing of our families. We decided to bet on innovation and create value in productive chains,” Marina del Pilar said at the forum that took place alongside the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and the governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal.

A priority for the state, the state governor restated, is to strengthen the value chain and the supply networks for the national and foreign industry located in the state, since they are the key to attract new investments. Simultaneously, she specified that the state has become an enabler for private industry projects, giving certainty and rule of law to investors at large.

“Without a doubt, promoting the features and characteristics of Baja California in the country is very important. We approached all different productive, business, and corporate chambers to let everyone know about the competitive advantages that we have. That is why I want to highlight the industrial vocation that we have in our state such as in the medical, aerospace, automobile, and electronic industries. Currently, we are focusing our efforts on biotechnology, semiconductors, electric mobility, and creative industries. We are the only state government nationwide with an Agency of Creative Industries,” she said.

She stressed the importance that collaboration with universities has to strengthen talent and creativity to incentivize directly and indirectly the development through the triple coordination between the government, the business sector, and academic institutions, saying that Baja California has the talent to face all and each challenge that is part of its economic activity.

As such, she spoke about the importance regarding the connection with California and Arizona, as they add the talent of its human capital, its growing infrastructure, and an education system that is addressing the needs of the productive sector to develop the talent of young people.

“In this administration, we are resolved to carry out the necessary actions for development in the next 10 years. We are investing in relevant issues such as ports, railways, water, and energy. The federal government is carrying out efforts thanks to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to connect Baja California to the national network,”, she said.

Lastly, the governor pointed out that more than 400,000 families are maintained thanks to the transformation industry, an industry that includes the commercial corridor Cali Baja, the world’s most important binational commercial route. This has transformed Baja California into one of the leading states when it comes to job creation nationwide.
